Clarence Carter was Fame Records biggest act with three million-selling singles and 12 top twenty hits in the R&B charts. The Fame Singles Volume 2 1970-73 completes Kent's look at this classic run of southern soul artistry after the success of their first volume. The compilation includes Clarence's biggest-selling international hit Patches and nine other Billboard R&B hits, several non-charting 45s, and, for the first time on CD, the singles issued on Fame directly, rather than through Atlantic. The Fame Gang backs Clarence on each track, recorded at the FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, produced by Rick Hall. Hall has given Kent Records full access to his tape vault, so all the tracks are taken from the master tapes for the first time. The booklet includes mostly previously unseen photographs from the FAME archive and, in an exclusive interview, Rick Hall explains the creation of Patches . Clarence Carter is one of the stars of the Autumn 2013 documentary movie Muscle Shoals...
